KNOG OI Bike Bell
Bike bells generally look & sound a bit ugly. But why? What if they looked sexy & sounded like an angel playing a glockenspiel? A bell with a beautiful tone, but also a remarkable style and choice of materials that embodies a rider’s personality. The Knog Oi Bike Bell is for you!
The Small Oi fits 22.2mm bars e.g Mountain bike (near the grips), BMX & some old commuters.
The Large Oi fits 23.8 to 31.8mm bars e.g. drop bar road bikes and some cruiser / commuters.
Please make sure you know where on your handlebar you are going to place the bell (grips or stem) before you order as you may need a different sized bell.
If you don't know which sized bell you need, then check out this guide on how to measure your handlebar
Most of the time the area you'll be attaching the bell to will be either 22.2, 25.4 or 31.8mm and can generally be separated in to the below categories.
- Road Bike – Handlebars generally come in two clamp sizes 26mm (older style) and the newer ‘oversized’ 31.8mm. The area where you attach the Oi bell will most likely be either 25.4mm or 31.8mm.
- Commuter/Cruiser Bikes – These handlebar sizes do vary due to the wide variety of styles, however most bar sizes would be either 25.4 or 31.8mm
- Mountain Bikes – Handlebars generally come in two clamp sizes 25.4mm (older style) and the newer ‘oversized’ 31.8mm. On some bars there will be a bulge in the middle and the bars will thin out towards the brake levers. If you want to attach your bell here, then please make sure you measure as it could mean you move from a large sized bell to a small. For instance the grip area on some of these bars will be 22.2mm, whereas the bulge is 25.4mm.
- BMX – Always 22.2mm.
Tip :
- If your handlebar is any bigger than 22.2mm then you will need to choose the larger sized bell. The Larger Oi will come with shims that will allow you to attach the bell to bars 23.8, 25.4 and 26mm.
- If your handlebar in the middle looks 'normal sized', it's probably 25.4mm.
- If your handlebar looks overly big in the middle, it's probably 31.8mm.
MOUNTING THE Knog Oi Bike Bell: |
|
1/ Take out the Oi and remove the hex bolt using the hex key provided.
2/ If you have the Large Oi but a 23.8, 25.4, or 26mm diameter bar you’ll need to put the appropriate spacer on your bar to make Oi sit flush. Make sure gap faces straight up. If your bar is 23.8mm, place the rubber tape provided inside the larger spacer.
3/ Manually open the mouth of the mount, and push over the handlebar if you can, fit it around your cables, there’s a space just for them.
4/ Position on a cylindrical part of the handlebar that you find comfortable, but is not curved or tapered We think close to the handle/grip, so your thumb can comfortably flick the hammer
5/ Screw in the hex bolt, firm enough to prevent any rotation, but don't overtighten (this can affect the sound quality).

*please remember to leave a small 1-2mm gap when you tighten your Oi bell to your handlebar, if you tighten it fully the bell will not be able to chime its full sound*
